Fallout New Vegas is a unique example of how differently the same concept can be presented. Having made Fallout 3, Bethesda studio was able to transfer the game to a first-person view, adapted the main mechanics of the dilogy to new realities and created a convincing, in general, ecosystem of a new nuclear wasteland – with dangerous roads between outposts, paranoid survivors and feisty mutants. Obtained the right to develop the spin-off studio Obsidian took and turned everything upside down – the south coast of America turned out to be crowded and eventful, and people are still the main thing here.

Fallout New Vegas is much closer to the first two parts of the series. Here questions of morality are raised less and less, the dark qualities of the human essence flourish more and more and relations between people are more and more confused. The South Coast of America with Las Vegas right in the middle of the nuclear wasteland lives merrily: climbing a high hill you will see a dozen different places near you, where adventure is definitely waiting for you.

The number of groups has also increased. In addition to the “big” and plot-relevant associations, you constantly stumble upon modest camps with their own behaviors, strange regulations and unusual concepts of survival. That is why the quest part in the game has changed for the better. Almost every third quest in New Vegas is a detective story with an unusual ending. At the same time, being good is not always profitable, sometimes it is much more effective to get a gun and smash all those who disagree. The main plot has become much more serious, posing a really important existential problem for the player.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE

Having significantly reduced the total area of ​​the map, New Vegas has saturated it with action. There is always something to see, where to climb and what to learn. Often, new discoveries literally make you open your mouth with amazement. And at the same time, New Vegas is definitely not a beautiful looking game. Much more important is how it is presented. The Obsidians know exactly what style is, so the local nuclear wasteland looks catchy, unusual and extremely intriguing. The design of the monsters did not disappoint either – many of them migrated here from Fallout 3, but in the new wrapper they became scarier, more violent and more dangerous. But the locations are given much more attention – no more identical corridors and similar factories. Each dungeon and each building is hand-drawn and does not resemble anything that has already been completed.

OUTCOME

Fallout New Vegas is a great nostalgic game. Obsidian managed to combine a new look for Fallout with the concepts that they came up with for the original dilogy. It turned out cool and unusual – New vegas was liked even by those who did not appreciate the third part of the series.
